Giving a boost to the Government's Organic Fertilizer Production Process as per directions of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, troops under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna on the directions of Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander Security Forces Jaffna set up Organic Fertilizer Processing Site at farm premises of SF (J) yesterday.
The Commander Security Force Jaffna graced Inaugural Ceremony of the Organic Fertilizer Processing Site and through this project, expecting to produce 3600 metric tons of compost fertilizer required for the Maha Season 2021.
During the ceremony the commander security forces Jaffna personally supervise the production process and gave the necessary instruction to the troops & encouraged them.
Further, the event was grazed by Kolitha Wickramasinghe, Horticulturist, Mr. Jagath Somatunga, Gardeaing and provided with expert views and guidence on the subject matter. As a part of this project it is expect to improve community awareness on the advantages of use of organic fertilizer.
Thus Army expects to provide technical support to local farmers for production of their own organic fertilizer. Divisional Commanders of 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North), Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Brigade Commanders and Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna were also presented in the occasion.
Moreover to make this event success technical outfits were provided by the manager of Rajarata Farm Weerasooriya Bandara.
This event was conducted under Army Headquarters stipulated COVID -19 Control and Prevention health guidelines
