Officers of the Family Health Services and Medical Laboratory Technical Scientist Services receive appointments

Sri Lanka has a strong family health service which has enabled the significant improvement of the country's health care system, said Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

She made this observation while participating as the Chief Guest at the awarding ceremony of appointment letters to the newly recruited officers of the Family Health Services and Medical Laboratory Technical Scientist Services held today at the Health Ministry Auditorium. Appointment letters were awarded to 866 officers on this occasion.

The Minister stressed the importance of providing family health service with human kindness, love and affection for all the people.

"The government is trying to rebuild the country by overcoming all the difficulties faced due to the COVID menace," the Health Minister said.

Out of 756 Family Service Trainees recruited as per the Gazette Notification of June 2015, 716 Family Health Service Trainees of the first batch and 150 Graduate Trainees qualified for the Medical Laboratory Course Course will be recruited for training.

She said that the recruits have a responsibility to render a great service to the country at this time of COVID 19 pandemic situation. She added that the country spends money on education, training etc. She added thereafter the country spends the lion share of the revenue on the health sector. She added the government makes these allocations even at a time when the income has dropped unprecedentedly.

Health Ministry Secretary Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Additional Secretaries, Deputy Directors General also present on the occasion.
