Hospitals will be strengthened by providing essential medical equipment

The Ministry of Health has launched an expeditious project to provide essential medical equipment to island wide hospitals under the Covid Control and Suppression Program.

Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Health today (13) handed over 50 million rupees worth of essential medical equipment to 08 hospitals in the Ratnapura District which are at risk of contracting Covid.

The medical equipment was handed over to Kolonna Base Hospital, Eheliyagoda Base Hospital, Kalawana Base Hospital, Kahawatta Base Hospital, Pothupitiya Regional Hospital, Maratenna Regional Hospital, Godakawela Regional Hospital and Rakwana Base Hospital in the Ratnapura District.

In addition to these physical resources, the Ministry of Health has also initiated a program to provide human resources, including doctors and nurses, to hospitals.

Also, a progress review meeting on hospital development activities in the Ratnapura District at a cost of Rs. 500 Million was held today at the Ratnapura Provincial Council Auditorium under the patronage of the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Kanchana Jayaratne, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena and other officials of the Ministry of Health, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Director of Health Services Dr. Kapila Kannangara, Provincial Secretary to the Provincial Council of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council were present on these occasions.
