Hemodialysis Unit of Navy General Hospital declared open

The newly established Hemodialysis Unit at the Navy General Hospital, Welisara was declared open under the auspices of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and with the attendance of the President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne today.

This new facility for dialysis treatment was put up utilizing funds made available by the Directorate of Naval Welfare and essential accessories provided by the Navy Sava Vanitha Unit, through its funds.

Established at the Navy General Hospital to expand healthcare facilities for the members of naval family, the Dialysis Unit would cater to the treatment of all serving and retired naval personnel as well as their family members who are in need of dialysis treatment for their kidney related complications.

The opening was held adhering to the COVID-19 protocols in force due to pandemic concerns and the event was attended by Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera, Commander Western Naval Area and Commander Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Upul De Silva, Director General Services, Rear Admiral Senaka Senavirathna, Acting Director General Health Services, Commodore PJP Marambe and a limited group of senior officers attached to the Navy Headquarters and Western Naval Command.
