A cardiologist (41) of a military hospital in Colombo North has been arrested in connection to the sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old girl via an online sex trafficking ring in Mount Lavinia.
Police Media Spokesperson SDIG Ajith Rohana said the cardiologist is a resident of Bandaragama is accused of molesting the victim. A total of 32 suspects, including a Maldivian national, have been arrested in connection to the sexual exploitation of the girl, which was uncovered after the Police busted the online sex trafficking ring in June.
Among those arrested in connection were the people who sent the girl to various parties, and provided transport and room facilities to abuse the girl. Those who created advertisements to expose this girl and also the owners of those websites have also been arrested. The victim girl had been exploited for three months and had been sold to various parties during the period.
