An advisory for heavy rain was issued to several provinces, which is valid until July 10.
According to the advisory, "Prevailing showery condition in the South-western parts of the country (particularly in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts) is expected to continue further. Heavy falls above 150 mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts."
General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
