Cabinet approval has been granted to upgrade selected district base hospitals under the Provincial Councils.
Co-cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said at the weekly Cabinet media briefing yesterday at the Government Information Department that the Government will upgrade one selected hospital in each district providing facilities such as medical treatment, theatres, and laboratories.
The district base hospitals of Matale, Nawalapitiya, Embilipitiya, Avissawella, Gampaha, Mannar, Vavuniya, Killinochchi, and Mullaitivu governed by the Provincial Councils at present and coming under the category of tertiary health services institutions have been identified and will be taken under the Health Ministry for enhancing supply, equality, and the efficiency and ease administrative activities.
