Unawatuna hotel employees test positive for COVID-19

Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Dr. Pramoda Siriwardana instructed the management of the newly opened hotel in Unawatuna to temporarily shut down for 14 days after 22 employees were confirmed to be COVID-19 infected.

“Initially, seven employees of the resort hotel were detected with Corona and were hospitalized. Subsequently, 15 more employees tested positive after undergoing PCR tests. Over 150 employees of the same hotel are under quarantine,” the Dr. Siriwardana said.

“Meanwhile, 16 out of the 200 garment factory employees of the Koggala Free Trade Zone (FTZ) who underwent PCR tests tested positive for COVID-19, Dr. Siriwardana added.
