Special Pooja, Rathana Sutta recital to bless Indians

A recital of Rathana Sutta with the participation of 60 Buddhist monks was held at the Sri Bodhiraja Viharaya in Embilipitiya on Sunday to bless the Indians affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief Sanghanayake of the Sri Lanka Ramannaya Maha Nikaya in the Southern Province Most Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera on Sunday said that invoking blessings of the Triple Gem on thousands of Indians suffering from COVID-19 pandemic is a meritorious deed.

“Sri Lanka has a very close affinity with India in terms of history, culture and religion. We are nurtured by Buddhism which came from India and she is our neighbour and close friend. India always comes to our assistance during times of need,' Ven Omalpe Sobitha Thera said.

The Thera also commended the Indian Government for providing the Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service to Sri Lanka.

The Sri Bodhiraja Viharaya in Embilipitiya on Sunday organized a Special Pooja to bless the thousands of Indians affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A recital of the Rathana Sutta with the participation of 60 Buddhist monks was also held at the temple premises to invoke the blessings of the Triple Gem to the COVID-19 affected Indians.

Four heads of cattle that were subject to slaughter were given Abaya Dana at the temple premises as part of this Pinkama. The religious ceremony was organized under the directive of Chief Sanghanayake of Sri Lanka Ramannaya Maha Nikaya in Southern province Most Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera.

Buddhist temples in many countries joined this religious ceremony online.
