Sri Lanka Police have launched investigations to trace people who collected items that have washed ashore from the burning ship (May 26) disregarding the warnings of the authorities, the Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Video footage will be used to identify the individuals in question.
He further said that, legal action against them will be taken under the provisions of the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance and the relevant sections of the Penal Code.
