Over 230 MTs of carcinogenic coconut oil to be re-exported

Over 230 metric tons of carcinogenic coconut oil that was brought to the Port of Colombo on April 30 was scheduled to be re-exported to Malaysia yesterday, Customs Spokesman Sudantha Silva.

He also noted that once the ship arrives at the Harbour, the containers that carry the unrefined consignment of coconut oil will be re-freighted to Malaysia.

However, the ship is scheduled to reach the Colombo port yesterday evening.Accordingly, the 12 containers with substandard coconut oil were scheduled to be re exported to Malaysia, He added.

Sri Lanka Customs had earlier re-exported 105 MT of coconut which was imported in six containers were found contaminated with chemicals, he further stated.
