Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Udaya Hettiarachchi

Rear Admiral Udaya Hettiarachchi today retired from naval service, upon completion of his distinguished career spanning over 35 years in the Navy.

The outgoing senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today received warm wishes from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the Board of Management before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. Thereupon, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer who then took leave from the Navy Headquarters in a motorcade.

Rear Admiral Udaya Hettiarachchi joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1986 and rendered a prominent service to the organization. He has held key appointments such as; Senior Staff Officer Internal Audit, Deputy Director Naval Logistics, Deputy Director Foreign Procurement, Captain Logistics Department West and North, Director Naval Budget, Deputy Director Local Procurement, Director Naval Victualing & Clothing, Director Naval Secretariat, Director Naval Administration, Director Sports, Commodore Superintendent Logistics East, Naval Secretary, Director Naval Foreign Procurement, Secretary to Commander of the Navy, Director General Budget and Finance and Director General Logistics during his illustrious naval career.
