The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had arrested a member of the Board of Directors of a private cooperative Bank on charges of misappropriating around Rs. 910 million from the company.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the bank is situated in the Maharagama area, adding that the CID had initiated investigations and it was revealed that the offence had been committed between 2017 and 2018.
The person was arrested by the CID on Wednesday in the Bibila area and was brought to Colombo.

He was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate on Wednesday and had been ordered to be remanded until June 8.
