The Dambulla Special Economic Centre was re-opened yesterday under strict health guidelines, and within the first hour of its opening the health authorities ordered to close down five shops which did not follow health instructions.

The Centre was closed for the public on April 25 after identifying 48 COVID-19 patients in it.

After re-opening, four employees were allowed in each shop. They were selected after conducting PCR tests.

The Police constantly instructed the people to maintain a two-metre  distance from each other. Only the products of the farmers in the Matale district were purchased yesterday. The farmers in other districts will be allowed in from tomorrow.

The employees who broke the health guidelines were removed from the premises by the authorities. A canteen which was opened without permission was also instructed to close immediately.
