Five websites belonging to State institutions including a sub domain of the Sri Lanka Police official website (www.police.lk) have been subject to cyber-attacks in the first five months of this year, Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka (ITSSL) revealed to them, these attacks have been conducted by a group of Turkey hackers on five different occasions between February 5 and May 5.
The hacked websites belong to the Sri Lanka Police, Health Ministry, the Ceylon Electricity Board, the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute and the Southern Provincial Council.
Meanwhile, the ITSSL suspects that the said Turkey Hacker Group has supported the Tamil Eelam Cyber Force to conduct a cyber-attack on the website of Sri Lankan Embassy in China on May 18, this year.
