Advisory issued for strong winds, rough seas and high waves

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre today issued an advisory for  strong winds, rough seas and high waves.
 
According to the advisory, "Wind speed can be increased up to (50-55) kmph in the sea area extending from Beruwala to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambanthota. The sea area extending from Beruwalato Pottuvil via Galle and Hambanthota will be rough at times. There is a possibility that near shore sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle, may experience swell waves, having (2.5 – 3.0) m height (This is not for land area)."
 
Naval and fishing communities and those who are living in coastal areas are also requested to be vigilant in this regards.
