Tree planting campaign for Sinhala and Tamil New Year

The “Nekathata Pelayak” main programme was held under the patronage of Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera at his home garden in Angunakolapelessa yesterday morning. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa presented a white sandalwood sapling to the Minister for this programme on Thursday. This is a new auspicious time added to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The new ritual was observed by planting saplings facing east at the auspicious time of 6.40 a.m. yesterday.
