‘Stalls, hotels not following health guidelines will be closed’

Food stalls and hotels in Kalmunai, which are not following the Health Guidelines, will be closed, Kalmunai Health Service Regional Director G.Sugunan said.

He said that the employees of many food stalls and hotels are not following the instructions by the Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and they will raid those places during the next few days.

The employees must wear face mask and gloves when they sell food items. Shop owners must follow the guidelines by the Health Ministry to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he said.

“The cleanliness should be assured at the places where food production, supply and distribution are carried out. It is the responsibility of the owners to follow the rules and regulations of Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA). Those who violate these rules and regulations will be fined and take necessary action through Courts for their activities,” he said.
