Security measures strengthened ahead of Easter Sunday

The Ministry of Defence has strengthened the security during the Holy Week and the Easter Sunday since the Easter Sunday is marked on April 04 (tomorrow) while commemorating the victims of the Easter Sunday terror bombings took place in April 2019, stated the Defence Ministry.

Tri-forces are now on standby and have been instructed to laise with the Sri Lanka Police to heighten the countrywide security measures accordingly.

Ministry of Defence has issued specific instructions to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Security Forces Commanders to be extra vigilant and to augment the security measures during the period while making security arrangements deemed necessary.

The general public and worshippers celebrating the Easter including the Vigilance Committees appointed by the Churches are also requested to be watchful and to immediately notify activities or information, if any, associated to violence/terror or extremism to the respective law enforcement agencies.

Worshippers and the Churches concerning the services, ceremonies and other related activities during the holy week and the Easter are also requested to follow the healthcare guidelines issued by the healthcare authorities.
