The Health Ministry had decided to conduct random PCR tests and antigen tests on those who are leaving Western Province during the festive season.
According to Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, these tests would be conducted on those leaving for their villages during the festive season to identify COVID-19 positive cases.
“A Special programme will be implemented at Investment Processing Zones focusing on employees leaving for their villages during the festive season,” he said.
“The objective of this programme is to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 from the Western Province to other regions,” he said.
