Visitors will not be permitted at prisons across the country for two weeks from today (24), owing to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said.
The decision was taken as there is a significant spike in COVID-19 cases in the country at present.
The Prisons Spokesperson further said providing paid meals and sanitary items to inmates through the prison canteen will be continued as per usual.
