Police warn public over stolen goods cyber sales

Police uncovered a racket where stolen goods were being sold over the internet recently. They have urged people to be careful when buying goods online.

The suspects are selling electrical and electronic equipment, as well as jewellery and books over the internet at low prices, police said.

They deliver the goods in a place where there are no close-up surveillance cameras, which the public does not pay much attention to, officers added.

Currently, the EMI numbers of all stolen mobile phones are published on the website www.ineed.police.lk maintained by Sri Lanka Police. Investigations are continuing.
