Minister Namal’s travel ban lifted

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala yesterday lifted the overseas travel ban imposed by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court on Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and three others.

The four accused, Namal Rajapaksa, eldest son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Sudarshana Bandara, Nithya Senani Samaranayake and Sujani Bogollagama who functioned as the directors of Gowers Corporation (Pvt) Ltd were present in court when the case was taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Minister Namal Rajapaksa and others had been allegedly involved in money laundering to the amount of Rs.15 million at NR Consultation (Pvt) Ltd and another Rs.30 million in Gowers Corporation Pvt Ltd, in 2012.

The Magistrate also ordered that the case be postponed till October 7.
