The Department of Meteorology states that the Heat Index is likely to reach the 'Extreme Caution’ level.
The Heat Index states that, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in Mullaitivu, Vauniya, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts.
The heat indexes of these areas may reach a ‘Extreme Caution’ level. The extreme caution level records temperatures ranging between 32-41 Celsius degrees.
According to the notice, people living in areas under ‘Extreme Caution’ level, would experience heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely; heat stroke is probable with continued activity.
