Govt. trying to create Muslim, Tamil rift - Sumanthiran

TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran yesterday said that the Government is trying to create a rift between Muslim and Tamil communities by bringing the bodies of COVID-19 victims to Iranathivu for burial.

“The Government’s decision to allocate a land in Iranathivu Island for the burial of Muslims who die of COVID-19 is aimed at creating divisions between the Tamil–Muslim communities,” he alleged.

He said that the Tamils joined with the Muslims to protest against the forced cremation of COVID-19 victims and there is unprecedented unity between the two communities.
