TNA against moves to create religious disharmony

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran said that legal action will be taken against the move to forcibly take over certain religious places in the North and East.

Sumanthiran was speaking to the media after a discussion between former TNA Parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah and former Northern Provincial Council Health Minister Dr. P. Sathyalingam in Vavuniya.

He said that various institutions and officials have been deployed to convert places of worship belonging to the Hindu community into Buddhist places and that private lands in the North have been acquired to construct Buddhist temples. He said that the TNA strongly opposed the move.

The TNA will hold protests in various parts of the North from February 3 to 6 against such activities, Sumanthiran said. He added that the Tamil political parties in Parliament will join hands with the people in this regard.
