Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena called on the Chief Prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters last week. The Minister briefed the Chief Prelates and said Geneva had already been informed that the President, Prime Minister and the government will reject all allegations levelled against Sri Lanka at the 46th UNHRC session in Geneva, and that some Sri Lankans are maliciously slandering the country based on false information to the Geneva Human Rights Council. MP Yadamini Gunawardena was also present.

 



The SLPP Conference for the Muttur constituency was held at the Muttur Public Library under the chairmanship of MS Uwais recently. A PCR testing machine and a fully equipped laboratory costing Rs. 28.4 million was recently installed at the Kegalle General Hospital. The total cost of the machine and laboratory, which can conduct around 600 PCR tests per day, was borne by the Government. There is a potential to increase the capacity of this unit to 1,000 to 1,200 tests per day. PCR test samples of the Kegalle District and suburbs had to be sent to Kandy, Ratnapura and Colombo and test reports took several days.
