The Chief Incumbent of the Arannaya Senasanaya in Watareka, Padukka had been admitted to the Colombo South Hospital with injuries after an assault, Padukka Police said. A group of unidentified persons had forcibly entered the Arannaya Senasanaya on January 26 night and assaulted the Nayaka Thera and damaged the furniture.
No suspects have been arrested yet.
The monks of the Arannnaya Senasanaya staged a protest opposite the Padukka Police on Friday urging the police to arrest the suspect.
