Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) would definitely be made a profit-making entity by 2024, President of the Sri Lanka Podujana Engineers’ Front (SLPEF) and CEB Chairman, Engineer Vijitha Herath said.
He stated this addressing the 14th Convention of the SLPEF held in Anuradhapura on Saturday.
Herath said the CEB had been incurring a loss of Rs. 90,000 million at the time he assumed office But, today it has been reduced to Rs. 45,000 million.
“Our aim is to make the CEB a profit-making entity by 2024.
I am confident that we can do it. I also request every Sri Lankan to work with integrity at least one hour a day for the sake of the country,” he said.
State Printing Corporation (SPC) Chairman engineer Janaka Ratna Kumara said the SPC was incurring a loss of Rs. 500 million at the beginning of 2020. However, after a one-year period, even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Corporation has earned a profit of Rs. 25 million, he said.“This is the aim of the SLPEF. We will change this country within the next ten years,”he further said.
