Camping at Mini World’s End temporarily banned

The Meegahakiwula Urban Council (UC) has imposed a temporary ban on tourists spending the night in tents at the Mini World's End in Madolsima.

UC Chairman Lalith Jayawardhene said the decision was made after a 34-year-old man was reported missing following an excursion to the Mini World's End.

He said that local and foregin tourists often come to spend the night in tents, resulting in numbers of accidents and environmental damage that happened because of their reckless behaviour.

It was decided to install glass viewing booths and a safety fence at the location.
