Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that he considers any problem faced by the poor as a national problem and that he would not hesitate to speak about them.
He made the above comment participating in ‘the Opposition Leader’s Mobile Service’ held in Okkampitiya, Buttala in Monaragala on Saturday.
“The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is not a traditional opposition party that objects to all the moves and creates unnecessary problems.
We object to wrong moves of the Government and we have the capacity to organise such protest campaigns effectively. However, we also actively work to solve people’s problems. We raise the burning issues of the public and make them the highest priority of the political agenda. We are an Opposition that assists the people to get out of their misery,” he said.
“Some people think that the Opposition Leader should only talk about national issues as there are other MPs to take up regional matters, but I do not separate the people’s problems in that manner. When we go before the ordinary people, we understand that their burning problems are national issues, and that those cannot be sidelined as regional issues,” he commented.
