The Cabinet of Ministers paid their attention to provide employment for all underemployed graduates under the government’s programme of recruiting graduates for government jobs.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held at the Government Information Department, Co-cabinet Spokesman Udaya Gammanpila said a number of Ministers had briefed the Cabinet on the situation faced by unemployed graduates.
According to the Minister, all the graduates who were employed in the public service or the private sector had not benefitted under the process of providing employment to all the graduates last year. As a result, these graduates have had to work as labourers and office assistants under their junior students who were at the same university with them, the minister said.
