India grants AstraZenca’s vaccines to SL

Co-cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella today stated that the country will receive 500,000 AstraZeneca vaccines from India this week.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa informed the Cabinet of Ministers that the the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka has informed that the consignment of vaccines is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

In view of the long standing relationship between Sri Lanka and India and the cooperation between two countries in face of the Covid 19 epidemic over the past year, the government of India has decided to grant over 500,000 vaccines manufactured in India to Sri Lanka.

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to express the appreciation and the gratitude of the Sri Lankan government in this regard.
