The number of COVID-19 cases in the Central Province has risen to 968, according to the Central Provincial Health Services Department. The highest number of COVID-19 infections in the province is reported from Kandy district with 589, while 304 cases have been reported from Nuwara Eliya and 75 from Matale Districts.
In the last 24 hours, 52 new cases of COVID-19 had been reported in the Central Province including 16 in Kandy and 36 in Nuwara Eliya. The highest number of infected patients has been reported from the Kandy Urban Health Officer’s Division within the Kandy District, up to 164. The highest number of infected people in the Nuwara Eliya District has been reported from the Ambagamuwa Medical Officer of Health Division. The highest number of infected persons in the Matale district is reported from the Galewela Medical Officer of Health Division and that number is 14.
