A 20-days-old baby has died with Covid-19, Director, Lady Ridgeway Hospital of Children, Dr. G. Wijesuriya said.
The baby is thought to be the youngest to die with the disease in Sri Lanka.
The Director said the victim, a resident of 'Thota Langa' area tested positive for Covid-19, but the cause of death was determined as a pneumonia condition prevailed before infected with COVID 19.
According to the Director, both mother and father of the infant tested negative for COVID-19.
Delay in seeking treatments have resulted in the death of this infant.
