Distribution of herbal concoction suspended

The Kegalle Government Agent has decided to suspend the distribution of the herbal concoction invented by Dr. Dhammika Bandara meant as a cure for COVID-19 until Health Ministry approval is given after stringent checks and a review by the Expert Committee is tabled.

Government Agent Mahinda S. Weerasuriya said that the decision was taken after long lines of people queued up to sample and purchase bottles of the concoction was reported to Police yesterday. Police had to be called in to disperse large crowds that had gathered at the residence of the ayurvedic practitioner. Many of them were not wearing face masks or adhering to social distancing guidelines.

It was also agreed at a discussion held at the Kegalle District Secretariat to distribute the concoction free of charge to all state pharmacies once approval is granted.
