COVID-19 recoveries top 18,000 mark

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka crossed 18,000 mark yesterday.

According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit, the total number of coronavirus recoveries reported in the country increased to 18,304 with 487 recoveries reported yesterday.

The total number of COVID positive cases detected from the country reached 24,532 and 6,106 of them are still under medical care.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 20,979.

Meanwhile, 14,409 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from both Minuwangoda (3,059) and fish market (17,920) clusters have been discharged from hospitals. To-date, 122 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported.

By yesterday morning (2), UL flight 104 from Mali with 44 passengers, flight QR 668 from Qatar with 21 passengers and flight UL 226 from Dubai with 52 passengers had arrived in Colombo. Likewise, flight UL 102 from India with 70 passengers is expected to land here yesterday morning (2).They were all referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by the Tri-Services upon arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of yesterday morning (2), 6,461 persons at 59 Tri-Service-managed Quarantine Centres are still in quarantine. Around 7,463 PCR tests were carried out only during the day Tuesday (1).
