COVID-19 patients exceed 26,000 mark; Recoveries total 19,438

The total number of COVID 19 positive patients directed in the country has exceeded 26,000 mark yesterday, Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry stated.

Accordingly, the total number of COVID positive cases currently stands at 26,038.

Around 19,438 of them have recovered while 6,471 remain in hospitals.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from the Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 22,484. Meanwhile, 15,624 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from both Minuwangoda (3,059) and fish market (19, 425) clusters have been discharged from hospitals.

To-date, 129 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported.

By yesterday morning (4), the flight QR 668 from Qatar with 45 passengers, the flight UL 230 from Kuwait with 295 passengers and the flight UL 455 from Japan with 5 passengers have arrived in Colombo. They all were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of yesterday morning (4), 6,436 persons are still in 59 Tri-Service-managed Quarantine Centres. On Thursday, 13,632 PCR tests were carried out.
