A tense situation erupted at the Mahara Prison this evening.
One inmate was killed after prison officials opened fire to control the situation, while another three sustained injuries, said the Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
He further said, that four police teams had been deployed to bring the situation under control while a team of Special Task Force (STF) officers has also been deployed to control the situation.
