Former Director of the CID Shani Abeysekera, who was admitted to the Gallella Hospital for COVID 19 patients from the Welikada Prison was transferred back to the Colombo IDH Hospital yesterday (27) on a medical recommendation.
A senior official of the Prisons Department said that Shani Abeysekera, who is in remand custody, was brought to the IDH Hospital on the recommendation of the doctors at the Gallella Hospital after undergoing a medical examination for a heart condition and other chronic medical conditions.
The Prisons Department had taken steps to provide tight security to Abeysekara who was brought to the IDH hospital.
