The road leading to the Addalaichenai College of Education in the Ampara District has been dilapidated for a long time, residents of the area said.
Teacher trainees at the Addalaichenai Government Teachers’ College (GTC) and Addalaichenai National College of Education (ANCOE), as well as students and residents of the area have urged the authorities to take immediate action to repair the road. They said that the authorities have ignored their pleas for a long time.
Schoolchildren attend the Addalaichenai Central College (National School) with great difficulty due to this issue; they have to cross the road with shoes in their hands, residents said. Furthermore, the road becomes inundated easily whenever there is rain, they added.
