New bridge to be built across Rajagiriya – Nawala canal

A new bridge would be constructed across the Rajagiriya-Nawala Canal at a cost of Rs. 1.6 billion, the Government Information Department said yesterday. Limited competitive bids were called to award the contract for the construction of a new bridge across Rajagiriya – Nawala canal  connecting Angampitiya Road at Ethulkotte and School Lane, Rajagiriya at Nawala.  Accordingly, the proposal submitted by the Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando to award the relevant contract to the State Development and Design Corporation for a sum of Rs. 1,698.55 billion (excluding VAT), as recommended by the standing committee on procurement appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers, was approved by the Cabinet yesterday (10).
