Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster exceeds 15,000 mark

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster has exceeded 15,000 mark.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOPCO) stated that as of yesterday morning, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster increased to 15,324.

Of them, 3,059 were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 12,265 were from the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster. Meanwhile, 9,478 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from both Minuwangoda and fish market clusters have been discharged from hospitals.

Up to yesterday, a total of 18,838 persons have been confirmed COVID-19 positive from all over the country, including the dead. 12,902 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 5,867 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centres. To-date, 73 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported.

Around 30,000, identified as the 1st contacts and 2nd contacts of COVID-19 affected persons are in self quarantine.

As of yesterday morning (20), 3,812 persons are still in quarantine at 36 Tri-Service-managed Quarantine Centres. Within yesterday (19), 10,356 PCR tests were carried out.
