COVID recoveries top 12,000

The number of people who have recuperated from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka crossed 12,000 yesterday.

According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit, the total number of coronavirus recoveries reported in the country increased to 12,210 with 404 recoveries reported yesterday.

The total number of COVID positive cases detected from the country reached 17,674 and 5,403 of them are still under medical care.

Meanwhile, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 14,154.

As of yesterday morning (17), 8,381 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals. 3,106 of them were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 11,048 were from Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.

As of yesterday morning (17), 3,281 persons in 33 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within Monday (16), 10,713 PCR tests were carried out.
