An advisory for heavy rain was issued to several provinces, which is valid until 7:30am November 17.
According to the advisory, "Due to the low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka prevailing showery condition is expected to enhance within next few days from today. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-central, Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces. Heavy rainfalls above 100 mm are likely at some places. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere particularly in the afternoon or night."
General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
