Highways Minister Johnston Fernando instructed his ministry to set up a proper programme to provide raw materials to construct highways.
As per the President’s Policy manifesto ‘Vision of Prosperity’, the highway development and 100,000 Km Road Development Projects have been expedited, the Minister said.
The Minister has taken steps to implement a programme to provide raw materials to the contractors through the Highways Ministry and the Road Development Authority, if there is a shortage of raw materials.
The Minister has instructed to identify the places where the raw materials are available and obtain permission from the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, Mahaweli Authority, Central Environmental Authority, Department of Archaeology, Department of Wildlife and Urban Development Authority in this regard.
