The Second Reading of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution was passed in Parliament with eight opposition SJB parliamentarians including national list MP and Assistant Secretary of the Party, Diana Gamage supporting the Government’s proposal.
The SJB MPs who voted in favour are Diana Gamage, Nazeer Ahamed, Mohammed Raheem, Faizal Cassim, H.M.M. Harees, M.S. Thowfeek, Arvind Kumar and Ishak Rahuman.
Meanwhile, SLPP MP and former President Maithripala Sirisena was not present during voting time. Among those who voted in favour are several Sri Lanka Muslim Congress MPs who contested under the SJB.
