The construction of the wind power plant in Mannar is set to be completed by the beginning of 2021, the state information office said. A 100MW wind power plant is being constructed in Mannar under a US$200 investment from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The physical progress of the project has reached 73% and the construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2021. It is reported that 06 wind turbines can be installed at the power plant using US$47 million from the US$200 offered by the ADB. This installation will increase the generating capacity of the power plant by nearly 20MW. The policy approval of the ADB has been granted for the said project and the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Ministry of Power to implement further actions in this regard.
