14 days qurantine for those who left the Western Province ahead of curfew

Public who left the curfew areas on 29th & 30th October will be placed in quarantine for 14 days at their current place of accomodation, Police announced today.

The Quarantine Curfew is in curri in effect across 117 Police Areas in Sri Lanka including 05 Police areas in Kuliyapitiya.

“Those who left Western province & Kuliyapitiya on 29th & 30th will be placed in quarantine for 14 days in their current location” DIG Ajith Rohana said.

DIG Ajith Rohana said that nearly 1000 police officers have been deployed to the check-points set up at all entry & exit points in the Western Province.

Police yesterday said that many individuals had left the Western Province, despite being requested to remain within the Province during this period.

The special operation is being conducted to obtain information on people who had left the Western Province for the long weekend by avoiding Police road blocks that were setup in various areas to prevent such movement.

The operation will focus on guest houses, hotels, and other accommodation where people from the Western Province may have lodged after leaving the Province.

Meanwhile 39 persons arrested from Western Province yesterday for violating quarantine law by not wearing face masks and maintaining the one metre distance, Police said. (NewsWire)
