SJB invites UNP to join alliance to contest PC election

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday invited the United National Party (UNP) to join the alliance it was forming and contest the Provincial Council election.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said the SJB has extended its invitation to the UNP to join the alliance.“I congratulate the newly appointed UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene, and I call upon the UNP and its members to join the SJB for the progress of the party and the country”.

When asked if Wijewardene will oblige to the invitation, Bandara said, the new UNP Deputy Leader was a very educated man, with vast experience and he knows what’s best for the party.

He further added, if Wijewardene is appointed as UNP leader talks will take place regarding the joining of both parties, until then there only an invitation.

“Ranil (Wickremesinghe), should consider in handing over the leadership, for the betterment and this is what everyone wants.

This week, Ruwan Wijewardene was elected as the new Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP).
